Bleu Couard

Born in France in 2019, Bleu Couard brings together Romane Mialon on bass, Tim Garson on drums, Corentin Billette on keyboards, mandolin and backing vocals, and Thibaut Haas on guitar and lead vocals. The project initially revolved around English-language songs that combined acoustic guitars, subtle electronic textures and occasionally processed voices, occupying a space between indie pop and folk, with some more rhythmic detours bordering on disco. Over time, Bleu Couard shifted its songwriting to French while maintaining an intimate, melodic sound focused on everyday stories, childhood, the changing body and ordinary fears, with a penchant for offbeat imagery and fictional characters. In this evolution the group makes room for a restrained, contemporary French chanson that can evoke references like Alain Bashung or Bertrand Belin, without severing ties to the more atmospheric influences of its beginnings. A self-titled debut EP, Bleu Couard, was released in March 2023 and establishes the foundations of this evolving identity.
