Méryll Ampe

Trained in wood sculpture at the École Boulle and subsequently at the Beaux-Arts de Paris-Cergy, Méryll Ampe develops in France a practice situated between visual art and sound art, carrying the same concerns of volume, material and space from one field to the other. She approaches sound through improvisation using analog sources, paying attention to relief, dynamics and effects of density — operating between noise, electronic abstraction and saturated rhythmic textures. Her trajectory has also been shaped by collaborations and assistantships with sound artists Robin Meier in Paris and Manuel Rocha Iturbide in Mexico. Alongside her solo performances, Méryll Ampe participates in projects with musicians, choreographers and visual artists, notably within scenes linked to COAX and Supernova, and in collaboration with Christian Rizzo, Mélanie Perrier, Elsa Brès and Boris Achour. She has performed at venues and festivals such as Les Instants Chavirés, Sonic Protest, Présences Électronique, the Palais de Tokyo, the Centre Pompidou, LUFF and Cave 12. Her compositions have been released by several independent labels in France and internationally, including Tsuku Boshi Records, AudioVisuelAtmosphere, Audiotalaia and Audition Records.
