Chino

Shaped by Katowice’s post‑industrial scene of the 1990s, Chino first developed a practice linked to graffiti before turning to the music that accompanied that milieu — between classical electro, industrial textures and mechanical rhythms. This dual visual and sonic culture still structures his work as a producer, live performer and graphic designer. After time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he also taught, Chino moved his music from sampling experiments toward a mode of composition more directly tied to synthesis and improvisation. His sets can take the form of tense, peak‑time techno as well as more oblique nocturnal driftings. His approach remains focused on dense, dry and brutally contoured machine music, though threaded with more organic surges. Chino is also among the founders of Radar — originally a club in Kraków, later a collective and an influential event series in the local underground — where he contributes to both the artistic direction and the visual identity. His productions appear on labels such as Recognition, S1 Warsaw, Holger, Altered States Tapes and Shtum, and his performances have taken him from Poland to Germany, as well as to Ukraine, Georgia, Albania and several scenes in Central Asia.
