Bureau de Change

Bureau de Change brings together Flora, Will, Connor and Louis in a quartet active on the UK independent scene, at the crossroads of tense, dissonant and melodic post-punk. The band first drew attention with the EP Are You Flirting With Me?, presented as a set of tracks with jagged structures, marked tempo changes and a deliberately abrasive writing style. In Bureau de Change, vocal lines, sardonically voiced humour and politically tinged lyrics mingle with an approach that also questions representations of femininity. That tension is audible in the music, where angular guitars, fractured rhythms and a deliberate taste for dissonance produce a compact yet mobile sound. Before forming Bureau de Change, the members played in other projects across the UK and Europe — a background that feeds the group's collective precision both on stage and in the studio. Bureau de Change has since moved forward with the single Dumb Men, announced as the first extract from a second EP.
