Jerzy Mączyński
Polish saxophonist, composer and producer Jerzy Mączyński initially developed his practice in free jazz and contemporary jazz before opening his work to electronics and audiovisual forms. Trained at Berklee College of Music and the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium, Mączyński builds a language in which improvisation, texture and rhythm converse with more open structures. In 2019 he released his first album as a leader with his quintet in the Polish Jazz series, and he continued this investigation with Jerry & The Pelican System – Sariani in 2021, made with Wacław Zimpel after tours and travels in India. In 2023, Universal Harmonies and Frequencies – Tune IN, conceived with Jamal Moss, aka Hieroglyphic Being, marked a clearer move toward a hybrid music between experimental jazz, electronics and atmospheric composition. In 2025 Jerzy Mączyński issued his first solo album as a producer and sound designer; the track “nomore.” opened an Hermès show during Paris Fashion Week. His trajectory also includes theatre, film and audiovisual projects, with appearances at venues and festivals such as Unsound, Dekmantel, the London Jazz Festival and Silent Green Berlin.
