Rage Against the Peppers

Born from the intersection of two major Los Angeles rock catalogs, Rage Against the Peppers brings together guitarist Jimmy Cochet, bassist Matthieu Bausson (also active in Ultra Vomit), and Andréas Martin of Andréas & Nicolas in a stage project focused on Rage Against the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Rage Against the Peppers covers songs from both bands, building on what connects their worlds: fusion, funk rock, rap rock, alternative metal and a very physical live energy. The concept rests on juxtaposing two complementary styles — on one side taut riffs, a frontal rhythmic approach and engaged accents; on the other, more fluid bass lines, a funk foundation and a strong sense of groove. More than a simple medley of covers, Rage Against the Peppers constructs its shows as a confrontation between two aesthetics from the same period and city, allowing the codes of one to circulate into the other. The project sits in the tribute-band sphere, with an approach that prioritizes interpretation and stage dynamics.
