Dj Steaw

Born in Rennes and based in Paris, Nicolas develops, under the names DJ Steaw and Steaward, a body of work as a DJ and producer rooted in deep, supple and highly rhythmic house, infused with soul, jazz and rap influences. DJ Steaw cites the African-American musical tradition as a central reference, and that lineage is evident in tracks built around pronounced basslines, tight grooves and a sense of improvisation that adds depth to his productions. Active on club scenes in France, across Europe and beyond, he has, alongside his DJ sets and releases under various aliases, co‑founded the labels Rutilance Recordings and House Puff Records — two entities that extend his producing work and cement his place in a French club‑oriented independent house scene.
