Mark Solo

Based in London, Mark Solo has built his career between Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and the capital, rooted in underground house and techno scenes since the mid-1990s. In 1995, after exposure to northern England house parties and sets by Green Velvet, DJ Sneak and Paul Johnson at Sankeys Soap in Manchester, he developed a taste for physical Chicago house, acid, 303 electro, disco and jackin’ techno with funk inflections. In 2000 he launched the Bump night in Leeds, conceived as an independent house rendezvous, before continuing his activity on the London scene. In London Mark Solo also hosts Acid & Oddities on Unify Radio, a weekly show where he blends classics and more recent productions spanning Chicago house to acid techno, electro and disco-tinged tracks. His sets, built as an open selection rather than a fixed format, circulate mainly between clubs, alternative venues and festivals, with an approach focused on groove, mix continuity and a dancefloor culture inherited from British and Chicago scenes.
