Billy Nasty
Active since the late 1980s in the United Kingdom, Billy Nasty has been part of the history of the British house and later techno scenes from London, where in 1990 he held his first residency at the club The Brain. His career then unfolded between clubs and festivals, with stints at venues such as The End in London or Twilo in New York, in a register centered on direct, dark and physical techno, also nourished by electro and a dancefloor culture derived from house. Billy Nasty thus accompanies the evolution of British electronic music in the 1990s toward harder and more industrial forms, while maintaining a DJ approach marked by the efficiency of mixing and a broad reading of styles. In 1995, he founded the Tortured Records label, a structure associated with a tense, club-oriented techno aesthetic, then launched Theremin Management in 1997 to represent several artists close to this universe. Regarding discography, verifiable information available remains limited, but BN02, the mix, appeared in 2002 on Trust the DJ. Billy Nasty remains linked to a long-term trajectory, between residency culture, international circuits and European techno scenes.
