th4ys

Born in Favela da Minhoca in the Grajaú neighborhood of São Paulo, th4ys has built a career as a DJ and producer closely tied to Brazilian funk, with strong roots in mandelão — São Paulo’s strand of baile funk characterized by dry rhythms, heavy bass and an intense physicality. Now based in London, th4ys maintains direct links with scenes in her home country, which she places at the heart of both her selections and her productions. Her sets, heard in clubs and on stations like NTS, move between São Paulo funk, carioca legacies and more hybrid forms of club music, without losing the frontal, confrontational quality typical of baile. On the production side, th4ys began with tracks such as “Amuleto”, recorded with singer Bia Soull. In 2023 she also appeared in a Boiler Room at the Rock the Mountain festival, in a lineup featuring only women, trans and non-binary artists, alongside the likes of Clementaum, Lys Ventura and Deize Tigrona. This trajectory positions th4ys between the Brazilian scene and the international circulation of funk.
