Shaka Lion

Born in Brazil and raised in Barreiro, Shaka Lion has forged his path between the heritage of Jamaican music and the Lisbon scene, where he began performing at venues such as Copenhagen, Casa Independente and Park. His activity expanded into DJ sets, production and collaborations, with appearances on NTS and Beats 1, work with Rinse FM and contributions as a producer and musician within the orbit of the Californian label Soulection. His trajectory also includes residencies at MusicBox and Lux Frágil, as well as a curatorial role for the Iminente festival. In both his selections and his productions, Shaka Lion blends dub, reggae, soul, hip‑hop, jazz and funk grooves with a flexible approach, often centered on laid‑back rhythms and the connections between sound‑system culture, club music and Afro‑diasporic traditions. Collaborations with Sango and Smino fit into this path that moves between Lisbon, Brazil and other international scenes.
