Eva Dahlgren

Born in Umeå in 1960 and raised in Nynäshamn, Eva Dahlgren has, since the late 1970s, developed a Swedish songwriting voice that sits between pop, rock and vispop. Her deep, restrained and intimate singing is supported by introspective lyrics and often pared-down arrangements. She drew attention on television in 1978, which led to the release of Finns det nån som bryr sej om that same year, and to appearances at Melodifestivalen in 1979 and 1980. After beginnings marked by folk and chanson, her repertoire took on a more rock-oriented direction during the 1980s, notably on Ung och stolt (1987) and Fria världen 1.989 (1989), before a step change with En blekt blondins hjärta (1991), a pivotal album in her discography. Subsequent releases alternate between more orchestrated formats and more stripped-back approaches on Jag vill se min älskade komma från det vilda (1995), Lai lai (1999), Snö (2005), Petroleum och tång (2007), Jag sjunger ljuset (2016) and Evalution (2020). Also active in the Buddaboys project, Eva Dahlgren has collaborated over the years with artists such as Uno Svenningsson, Lisa Ekdahl, Peter Jöback and Silvana Imam, while remaining linked to the Swedish pop and rock scenes.
