The Hackles

Formed in Astoria, Oregon, The Hackles originally coalesced around Kati Claborn and Luke Ydstie before adding Halli Anderson, surrounded by a rotating group of musicians from the Pacific Northwest scene. The Hackles operates within an American folk idiom conceived as an open collaboration, where the band’s identity is shaped as much by its core as by the artists who join for specific projects. This collective dynamic accompanies a concise discography: The Twilight’s Calling it Quits (2018), A Dobritch Did as a Dobritch Should (2019), Songs for the Fool (2022) and What a Beautiful Thing I Have Made (2023). Across these releases, The Hackles has developed a trajectory tied to Oregon’s independent scene and, more broadly, the Pacific Northwest, functioning with a flexible approach that sits between a steady lineup and a folk collective.
