Annick Tangorra
Linked to Marseille and the Aix-en-Provence scene, Annick Tangorra has developed since the late 1980s a career as a singer, songwriter and composer situated between jazz, Brazilian music, Caribbean rhythms, afro-jazz, jazz-funk and Latin jazz. Trained early in classical singing and later in piano and guitar, she has refined a relationship to rhythm and phrasing that combines vocal precision, suppleness and a warm timbre. Her beginnings with Hot Brass in Aix placed her in an open repertoire where jazz standards coexist with more dance-oriented influences. Stays in Brazil and the Antilles subsequently nourished her aesthetic, reinforcing the role of syncopation, tropical colors and a singing style that is both fluid and firmly rooted in groove. Over the course of her career, Annick Tangorra has shared the stage with musicians such as Alain Jean-Marie, Emmanuel Bex and Ivan Jullien. Her trajectory has gradually shifted from interpretation to composition, in a writing that crosses vocal jazz, light soul and Latin music without compartmentalizing genres.
