CRAVO
Born in Lisbon, CRAVO has since the late 2000s developed a career anchored in the Portuguese electronic scene. Trained in audiovisual arts, he initially approached music in Caldas da Rainha through reggae and dub, before turning to techno in 2010, with an approach marked by swing, syncopation and a careful work on textures. In 2011, CRAVO founded the duo -2 [menosdois] with Vasco Guerreiro, a project where the two producers explore a rougher and more experimental techno, in continuation of early experiments that structure his musical language. In 2017, he took part in the creation of the collective and label HAYES alongside VIL, Temudo, Nørbak, Enkō and Autrane, a platform that has become central in the Lisbon techno ecosystem. Solo, CRAVO circulates his productions between techno and house, in an aesthetic that is tense but mobile, where the pulsation remains direct without erasing a warmer and more emotional dimension. His music appears notably on HAYES, Klockworks and SK_Eleven, while he also develops the Carícia label. Alongside his releases, CRAVO extends this work through programming: in 2021, he launches SUMMA in Lisbon with Enkō and VIL, a regular framework for long-form formats and an open reading of contemporary techno linked to his more classical roots.
