J Mahon

Under the name J Mahon, Jarrod Michael Mahon has been developing from Australia a songwriting approach positioned between chamber pop, indie pop and lo-fi folk, with a strong taste for fragile melodies, spare arrangements and very direct lyrics. Before recording in the studio, J Mahon released about twenty home-recorded EPs and albums that accompanied his journey toward sobriety and laid the foundations for an intimate, stripped-back universe. This first period culminated in Everything Has A Life in 2023, produced with Syd Kemp, a musician and producer also associated with Ulrika Spacek and Spiritualized. In 2025 J Mahon signed to Unique Records and reunited with Kemp for Begin Again, Again, a second album that extends this melodic vein in a more orchestrated format, between chamber pop and dreamy ballads. On stage, J Mahon has toured the UK and Germany, notably alongside Speedy Ortiz, Tess Parks, Ulrika Spacek and Drahla. At the end of 2025 J Mahon formed a live trio, J Mahon and The Heavenly Pop Hits, which reinterprets his songs in a more direct approach, between power pop and 1990s indie rock.
