Pastora Soler
Born in Coria del Río, near Seville, Pilar Sánchez Luque took the stage name Pastora Soler in the early 1990s after a childhood singing copla and flamenco repertoire on Andalusian stages. She made her recording debut with Nuestras coplas in 1994, then quickly broadened her range with El mundo que soñé (1996) and Fuente de luna (1999), where her music opened to melodic Latin pop with Eastern touches. This evolution continued on Corazón congelado (2001) and Deseo (2002), the latter featuring arrangements closer to dance-pop, before a refocus on pop song and ballad on Pastora Soler (2005), Toda mi verdad (2007), Bendita locura (2009) and Una mujer como yo (2011). In 2012 Pastora Soler represented Spain at Eurovision with Quédate conmigo, a period when her powerful voice and dramatic interpretation placed her both in the tradition of the canción española and in contemporary pop. Her career also includes collaborations with Raphael, Manuel Carrasco, David DeMaría and Miguel Poveda. After Conóceme (2013) and a break due to health problems, Pastora Soler returned with La Calma (2017), then Sentir (2019) and Libra (2022), continuing a path between theaters, major Spanish stages and international concerts.
