Casisdead

Born in north London and associated with Tottenham, CASISDEAD first came to prominence in the mid-2000s under the name Castro Saint, in the local grime orbit, before stepping away from music and returning in 2012 with a renewed identity. His journey links British rap, grime, and a more electronic vein, with productions that borrow as much from dark electro as from synthetic textures and cloud rap, in the service of a dense, often narrative and urban writing. The mixtape The Number 23, released in 2013, sets this direction by mixing raw tracks, melodic hooks, and nocturnal atmospheres. CASISDEAD then continues with the EP Commercial 2 in 2015, followed by a series of tracks that further widen his aesthetics, while collaborations with Giggs or Tricky place him in several scenes of British rap. A significant part of his universe also goes through imagery, with CASISDEAD directing several of his videos himself and developing a marked visual identity, notably around anonymity and the mask. After several years of singles and fragmented projects, he finally releases Famous Last Words in 2023, his first studio album, where rap, synth-pop and retro-futurist moods intersect without breaking the dark and precise writing that underpins his work.
