Noah
Formed in Bandung, Indonesia, the band now known as Noah emerged in the early 2000s under the name Peterpan around Ariel (vocals), Lukman (guitar), Andika (keyboards), Indra (bass), Reza (drums) and Uki (guitar), first playing small café stages before being noticed for the song “Mimpi yang Sempurna” on the compilation Kisah 2002 Malam in 2002. Situated between alternative rock and mainstream pop rock, Peterpan quickly established a melodic sound built on clean guitars, flexible rhythms and introspective lyrics largely written by Ariel, driven by the albums Taman Langit (2003), Bintang di Surga (2004), Hari Yang Cerah (2007) and the OST Alexandria soundtrack (2005), all released on Musica Studios and widely distributed in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. After Andika and Indra left in 2006 and following a long dispute over the name, the band officially abandoned Peterpan in 2008, released an instrumental reinterpretation album, Suara Lainnya (2012), and re-emerged as Noah with Ariel, Lukman, Uki, Reza and David on keyboards. Noah continued the pop-rock trajectory with Seperti Seharusnya (2012), the reinterpretation project Second Chance (2014), the covers album Sings Legends (2016) and Keterkaitan Keterikatan (2019), recorded in part with British producer Steve Lillywhite. Reduced to the trio of Ariel, Lukman and David after the successive departures of Reza and Uki, Noah then focused on reactivating its earlier repertoire with new versions of Taman Langit, Bintang di Surga and Hari Yang Cerah in 2021–2022, before announcing a hiatus for the band effective 1 January 2024, leaving behind a catalogue among the best-selling in Indonesian pop rock and an organized fan base known as Sahabat NOAH.
