CARTOON

Active on Tokyo's club scene for more than twenty years, CARTOON has built a career as a DJ and producer centered on tech house and house. He favors repetitive grooves, solid basslines and a constant back-and-forth between Chicagoan heritage and European sounds. Based in Tokyo, CARTOON made his name in Shibuya clubs, notably at WOMB, where he has hosted nights such as WORLD-MARKETZ and HOUSE TRIBE and regularly shared bills with international house and techno artists. His discography is built around numerous dancefloor-oriented singles, with releases on New York's Ultra Records and Chicago house label Trax Records, while maintaining a strong foothold in the Japanese scene. CARTOON later launched his own imprint, sensor label, as a platform for his productions and targeted collaborations, including a remix of 'Locking System' by Howie B. He has also appeared at major electronic events in Japan, notably on the RESISTANCE stage at ULTRA JAPAN in 2022 and 2023. In 2021 CARTOON released the singles 'Can't Stop Now' and 'Be All Right', which continue his approach to melodic, club-focused house. At the same time he hosts the live Friday-night show 'sensor' on InterFM, a curatorial role that places him at the heart of electronic music broadcasting in Japan, and outlets such as GQ JAPAN occasionally highlight his position at the intersection of club culture, music and urban fashion.
