Red Hot Chilli Pipers
Born on the Scottish scene in the early 2000s, Red Hot Chilli Pipers are a Glasgow-based band that blends rock, pop and Scottish traditional music centered on the bagpipes. The lineup brings together several pipers from the pipe-band world with a guitar, bass, keyboards and drums section, creating a style often dubbed “bagrock,” in which traditional airs, instrumental compositions and rearranged rock covers coexist. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers gained wider attention in the UK after winning the BBC show When Will I Be Famous? in 2007, which led to sustained touring and festival activity across Europe, North America and Australia. Their discography notably includes Music for the Kilted Generation (2010), Octane (2016) and Fresh Air (2019), albums that continue the approach of mixing rock standards, pipe tunes and more melodic pieces. On stage the band alternates between tight formations and an expanded line‑up with brass and additional percussion, maintaining a position between Scottish pipe‑band culture, world‑music circuits and mainstream rock programming.
