Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa

Based in London after a childhood marked by leaving Sri Lanka in 1999 and spells in Malaysia, Southeast Asia and Europe, Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa develops English-language stand-up strongly informed by those moves. A comedian, screenwriter and director, he cultivates a very measured, nearly deadpan humour that mixes personal anecdotes, cultural disjunctions and reflections on immigration, identity, family and life between East and West. He began on Berlin’s English-language scene in open mics, where he honed a calm, often seated delivery that relies on silences and shifts of perspective rather than upfront energy. His career reached a new level with his first hour, Monsoon Season, presented notably at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and recorded as a video special in 2023. He followed with French Kiss Tunnel in 2024, which refocused his writing on the intimate and on relationships, then continued with Woodapple Jam and is preparing Paradise Gothic, tested in several UK venues. Alongside tours across Europe and the UK, he has appeared on British television—most notably The Stand Up Sketch Show on ITV2—while continuing to develop a slow, introspective and wryly ironic narrative style.
