Jeancristophe

Active on the French music scene, Jeancristophe, the stage name of Jean-Christophe Cheneval, leads a French-language songwriting project in which writing occupies a central place. Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and a recipient of a SACEM award, he divides his time between his work as an author-composer-performer, composing music for image, and creations intended for live performance. Jeancristophe develops a repertoire that blends chanson influences, pop and more intimate forms, with particular attention to the lyrics and the relationship between voice and piano. Alongside his albums and composer collaborations, he writes and stages shows for young audiences while continuing to work as a musician and sound engineer on other projects. In 2021, Jeancristophe released the EP Où est la joie ?, which marks a new stage in his writing and initiates a regular return to the stage. That return materialized in a series of duo concerts with pianist and arranger Simon Fache, who is also involved in producing his recordings, while mixing was entrusted to Dominique Blanc-Francard, giving Jeancristophe's productions a coherent sonic identity across his releases.
