V.O.F. De Kunst
Formed in Tilburg in the Netherlands in the early 1980s, V.O.F. De Kunst first made its mark on the Dutch pop scene with Dutch-language material built around simple, catchy melodies. The band, notably led by singer Nol Havens, gained recognition outside the Netherlands when the single “Suzanne,” released in 1983, was issued internationally under the name The Art Company, with an English version titled “Susanna.” V.O.F. De Kunst is associated with the Nederpop wave of that period, combining tours and recordings while developing a sound that mixes light pop, touches of chanson, and a storytelling approach reminiscent of cabaret. From the late 1980s the group shifted much of its activity toward children’s music, adapting Dutch texts and nursery rhymes and creating musical shows for young audiences staged in theatres across the Netherlands and Belgium. Since then the band has alternated between stage projects, thematic recordings, and concerts that trace the various phases of V.O.F. De Kunst’s career, between radio-friendly pop and family-oriented productions.
