Jon Flemming Olsen

Based in Hamburg, German musician and singer-songwriter Jon Flemming Olsen has forged a path at the intersection of country, folk and acoustic pop. Early influenced by 1960s pop — notably the Beatles — Olsen began by playing in school bands before becoming rooted in Hamburg’s music scene. He gained recognition around the turn of the 2000s as a founding member of the country band Texas Lightning, which combined covers and original songs in a style between Americana and mainstream entertainment. With Texas Lightning he notably represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, which brought him to major stages across Europe. At the same time he pursued graphic work and acted on German television, where since the late 1990s he has portrayed the character “Imbisswirt Ingo” in formats created with Olli Dittrich. From the 2010s onward, Jon Flemming Olsen developed a solo repertoire, mainly sung in German, characterized by acoustic guitars, narrative songwriting and a frequently introspective tone — a blend of everyday chronicle and social observation that extends the world sketched with Texas Lightning in a more intimate form.
