Angine
Led by Romane Philbert and Lena Sipili, the French duo Angine creates subdued electronic pop that moves between piano-and-voice songs and more experimental productions. Angine brings together singer and clarinetist from Reims Romane Philbert—who comes from orchestras, choirs and musical theatre before turning to contemporary music as a songwriter, composer and performer—and sound engineer Lena Sipili, trained at ENS Louis Lumière in Paris and active on projects such as Dionae and alongside Lyes Kaci in an experimental pop register. The duo draws on influences like Sevdaliza and Bonnie Banane to craft frontal polyphonies, naked vocals and more abstract electronic textures, playing on the contrasts between vocal intimacy and dense arrangements. Angine’s approach also rests on Romane Philbert’s work on voice and language, nourished by a certificate of competence as a speech therapist (certificat de capacité d’orthophoniste) obtained at CFUO in Bordeaux in 2025, and on Lena Sipili’s technical outlook, which refines sound and production choices. Together, Angine builds a repertoire that moves between sensitive songwriting, sonic experimentation and song formats, presented on local stages and online.
