Ron Artis II

Based in Hawaiʻi, American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ron Artis II creates music at the crossroads of soul, rhythm & blues, gospel, funk and an improvisation-tinged acoustic folk. Raised in a family of musicians active on Oʻahu, he learned his craft early in churches and the island’s small venues, initially performing in family groups before focusing on his own songs. Throughout the 2010s he built his project around the band The Truth, which regularly accompanies him on stage and helped shape a sound centered on voice, guitar and contemporary soul grooves. The album Soul Street, released in 2018 under the name Ron Artis II & The Truth, stands out in his discography for affirming this blend of modern soul, R&B ballads and moodier blues tones. Alongside his studio work, Ron Artis II has toured extensively across Hawaiʻi, the North American mainland and Europe, playing both solo and band sets and sharing bills with artists such as Jack Johnson and Xavier Rudd, gradually positioning his work within the soul, roots and singer-songwriter scenes.
