Lord Friday the 13th
Born in the orbit of Austin’s indie scene before relocating to Los Angeles, Lord Friday the 13th has been developing a format since 2019 led by siblings Felix and Sloane Lenz from Athens, Texas. Their music moves between punk, glam and a trashy aesthetic, with a marked taste for jittery choruses, direct guitars and a stagecraft that borrows as much from rock as from the visual imagination of genre cinema. Before Lord Friday the 13th, Felix and Sloane grew up largely self-taught and first found an outlet in the local theatre, an experience that contributed to their stage confidence. Settled in Austin in the mid-2010s, they also attended the Austin School of Film and worked on videos for the city’s musicians, while Sloane developed clothing-related and editing activities and Felix focused on graphic design and animation. Lord Friday the 13th thus belongs to a practice where music, image and visual universe advance together, between punk energy, role-playing and DIY culture.
