Motorowl
Formed in 2014 in Thuringia, Germany, Motorowl sits at the crossroads of metal and psychedelic rock, with a prominent role for organ and 1970s‑inspired sounds. Motorowl's first album, Om Generator, was released in 2016 on Century Media, co‑produced by Fabian Hildebrandt and mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö, establishing a blend of doom metal, retro rock and psychedelic rock driven by heavy guitars, analogue keyboards and vocals tinged with alternative rock. The release of Om Generator brought Motorowl on the road alongside bands such as Sólstafir, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, '77, Grave Pleasures and as support for High on Fire, anchoring the band in a European scene where metal, stoner and experimental rock intersect. In 2018 Motorowl recorded Atlas in ten days at Off the Road Studios in Leipzig, an album captured mainly live, self‑produced with engineer Charlie Paschen, which accentuates the role of keyboards and moves toward more progressive forms between post‑rock, krautrock and heavy rock. In 2024 the third album This House Has No Center, released via Supreme Chaos / Soulfood, continues this search for free arrangements between psychedelia, dark pop and doom. At the end of 2024 founding member and organist Daniel Dettlev left Motorowl and was replaced by Marie‑Christin Herberg, marking a new stage in the band's sonic evolution.
