Kashmir
Formed in the early 1990s in Frederiksberg, Denmark, Kashmir initially made its mark on the local scene with grunge-influenced rock before moving toward a more melodic, atmospheric style. Built around Kasper Eistrup, Mads Tunebjerg and Asger Techau, later joined by keyboardist Henrik Lindstrand, the band gained attention after winning a national rock contest, leading to the release of Travelogue in 1994 and Cruzential in 1996. With The Good Life (1999) Kashmir refined a broader sound that blended dense guitars with lighter textures, an evolution continued on Zitilites (2003), where the band developed longer, more intricate compositions. No Balance Palace (2005) signalled a larger embrace of collaboration, featuring contributions from David Bowie and Lou Reed, while Trespassers (2010) carried on the thread of alternative rock with elaborate arrangements. Regularly appearing on major Danish stages and at numerous European festivals, Kashmir established a lasting presence in the Scandinavian rock scene, before announcing an extended hiatus from 2017 onward, leaving a catalogue that continues to generate reissues, occasional concerts and members’ side projects.
