Büşra Kayıkçı

Based in Istanbul, Turkish composer and pianist Büşra Kayıkçı develops a musical voice that sits between contemporary music, minimalism and neo-classical influences. Trained on piano from a young age and later in architecture and interior design, she transposes a particular attention to space, proportion and the movement of motifs into her compositions, much like a plan or sketch. After an initial series of self-released pieces collected on the album Eskizler (2019), her work reached a broader international audience, where she performs solo and within contemporary music contexts. Her discography expanded with Places (2022), which deepens a language built on repetitive patterns, spare melodies and very gradual dynamic shifts, sometimes extended by strings or subtle atmospheric textures. Often centered on the acoustic piano, her music favors short forms, a pronounced use of silence and an introspective aesthetic, and occasionally opens up to collaborations with dance, theatre or moving image, reinforcing the constant link she maintains between architecture, soundscape and composition.
