Anubhav Singh Bassi

Born in Meerut, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Anubhav Singh Bassi initially studied law at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University in Lucknow before turning to stand-up. After a short stint in the legal world and preparing for civil service exams, he began performing on Hindi open-mic nights in the mid-2010s and developed an observational comedic style focused on student life, small-town friendships, failed career attempts and the everyday realities of the Indian middle class. Established in the Hindi stand-up scene, he built his reputation through recorded performances on YouTube and touring solo shows in large venues across India as well as for diasporic audiences abroad. His writing relies on extended autobiographical narratives, a conversational, familiar tone and a pacing that allows for ample digressions, placing him more in the comedic storytelling tradition than in the one-liner vein. Alongside his stage work, Anubhav Singh Bassi appears in the Bollywood film “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” (released in 2023) and continues to distribute his acts in audio and video on major digital platforms.
