Gary Mullen & The Works

Centered on Scottish singer Gary Mullen from Glasgow, Gary Mullen & The Works is entirely devoted to Queen’s repertoire and the stage persona of Freddie Mercury. Mullen’s career began around the turn of the 2000s when he won the British show Stars in Their Eyes performing as Queen’s lead singer, a victory that quickly led to a series of solo appearances. In 2002 he founded Gary Mullen & The Works and launched the show One Night of Queen, conceived as a full‑blown rock concert rather than a mere one‑off tribute. The band presents itself as a classic rock lineup — guitar, bass, drums and keyboards — recreating Queen songs in the style of 1970s–80s British rock, blending stadium anthems, power ballads and poppier numbers. The group tours extensively across the UK, Europe, North America and New Zealand, favoring theatres, large regional venues and festivals where One Night of Queen often fills the entire evening. In this context, Gary Mullen & The Works emphasizes lead vocals, vocal harmonies and stage presence, aiming to convey Queen’s energy while openly operating within a tribute‑band format.
