Glenn Tilbrook

Born in Woolwich, southeast London, Glenn Tilbrook has, since the mid‑1970s, developed a British pop‑rock songwriting style blending new wave, power pop and acoustic melodies. A singer, guitarist and composer, Glenn Tilbrook founded Squeeze with Chris Difford after answering a classified ad, and he helped the band emerge on the late‑decade English new wave scene, with Jools Holland in the original lineup. Within Squeeze, Tilbrook generally composed the music while Difford wrote the lyrics — a working partnership that has left a lasting mark on his career. During the band's breaks he continued the duo on the album Difford & Tilbrook in 1984, before launching a solo career in which short songs, melodic choruses and precise guitar playing remained at the forefront. His records The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook (2001), Transatlantic Ping Pong (2004), Pandemonium Ensues (2009, with The Fluffers) and Happy Ending (2014) extend this aesthetic between melodic pop, edgy rock and more acoustic passages. Glenn Tilbrook also performs with The Fluffers, a group formed in 2003, while regularly continuing Squeeze's live activity in the UK and internationally.
