Matasvandals

Based in the Sierra de Madrid, Matasvandals brings together MCs Da Silva and Mauri, two rappers who were already active as solo artists before developing this joint project in the second half of the 2010s. The name Matasvandals refers to Las Matas, their place of origin, and to a direct way of approaching rap, featuring raw lyrics, a frontal delivery and tense productions. Situated within contemporary Spanish hip‑hop, Matasvandals works a new‑school aesthetic without breaking from classic rap writing, combining a knack for phrasing, crisp rhythms and group energy. The duo’s dynamic rests on alternating their voices and writing angles, in a format designed as much for the stage as for studio releases. Matasvandals has carved out a place in the Spanish rap circuit by extending Da Silva’s and Mauri’s individual trajectories while asserting an identity of their own, linked to Madrid but more precisely rooted in the capital’s periphery.
