Face
Founded in 2002 in Boulder, Colorado, Face, often billed as Face Vocal Band, is part of the American a cappella scene, focusing on vocal harmonies, pop and rock arrangements, and rhythm produced without instruments. Centered around Joseph DiMasi and Ben Lunstad, the group first emerged on the collegiate circuit before moving onto regional and then national stages, notably via the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival in the mid-2000s. Face gained further visibility by appearing on the first season of NBC’s The Sing-Off in 2009, a boost that helped the band expand from a local base to wider touring activity across the United States. Their repertoire blends reworked covers, ensemble songwriting, vocal percussion and a stage approach close to pop concerts, with a pronounced taste for male choral textures and dynamic arrangements. The band’s independently released discography includes Wake Up (2004), Forward (2006), Momentum (2009), I Hear the Bells (2011), How Was the Show (2013), Connections (2015) and Big Time (2017). Having become a quintet through lineup changes, Face continues to occupy a recognizable place in contemporary American a cappella.
