Ben Portsmouth

Born in 1979 in Reading, England, Ben Portsmouth has developed a career at the crossroads of singing, songwriting and performing, with activities split between original material and tributes to Elvis Presley. He writes his own songs and released his first EP, Win Or Lose, in 2018 in a pop-rock/soft-rock style that highlights a crooner voice, direct melodies and an approach strongly rooted in the rock’n’roll and ballad tradition. A large part of his career is built around his show Taking Care of Elvis, which he presents with his band on stages in the UK and internationally, revisiting different eras of Elvis Presley’s repertoire—from the early rock numbers to the more orchestrated tracks of the 1970s. In 2012 Ben Portsmouth won the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, organised by Elvis Presley Enterprises, becoming the only non-American artist to hold the title in the 2007–2017 period. The following year he was invited to take part in a special segment for Elvis Week on The Late Show with David Letterman. His career also includes screen appearances, notably in Autopsy: The Last Hours of Elvis (2014) and Elvis: Are You Lonesome Tonight (2020).
