Drukwerk

Born in the streets of Amsterdam in the late 1970s, Drukwerk is built around singer Harry Slinger and a core of musicians drawn to pop sung in Dutch. Initially active in a context that mixed cabaret, rock and neighborhood songs, Drukwerk quickly moved toward a direct Nederpop, with lyrics rooted in everyday life, Amsterdam cafés, colloquial speech and social themes. The band drew attention in the early 1980s with the song «Je loog tegen mij», which established the tone of a repertoire combining easy-to-sing-along choruses, touches of reggae and ska, more melancholic ballads and understated humour. Drukwerk went on to release several studio albums and tour throughout the Netherlands, appearing in concert halls, at festivals and on national television. After various breaks and lineup changes, Harry Slinger has continued to carry Drukwerk on stage, between nostalgic concerts, club dates and more intimate shows, keeping alive a catalogue strongly marked by an Amsterdam accent and a songwriting that favors everyday stories.
