Pink Project
Born in the early 1980s at the heart of the Italo‑disco wave, Pink Project refers to an Italian studio project that repurposes and blends themes from progressive rock and electronic pop within a club‑oriented framework. Behind Pink Project were musicians and producers tied to the Italian disco scene of the time, who developed a collage‑like approach by mixing synthetic basslines, drum machines and melodic quotations borrowed notably from Pink Floyd or The Alan Parsons Project. The project drew attention with maxi singles constructed as linked medleys, designed for European discotheques and the emerging DJ culture, where the writing relied on repetition, loops and progressive buildups rather than a classic song form. Active mainly in the first half of the 1980s, Pink Project remains associated with that period of experimentation between disco, electro and rock references, and continues to attract lasting interest from collectors and Italo‑disco enthusiasts who regularly rediscover these recordings through reissues and specialist compilations.
