Skroetbalg

Formed in the north of the Netherlands, Skroetbalg plays punk rock heavily tinged with Oi! and rock’n’roll, marked by fast tempos, direct riffs and a rough vocal delivery sung mainly in the Drents Low Saxon dialect, with occasional Dutch. The band emerged in the late 2010s within the Dutch street punk scene and quickly became part of a network of independent venues, squats and small festivals where Skroetbalg consolidated an aesthetic focused on everyday life, boredom, excess and social tensions. The release of the album Tot De Nek In De Shit in 2020, followed by Alles Gaat Kapot in 2022, both on Rebellion Records, established Skroetbalg in a register that mixes shouted choruses, street-choir vocals and the simple structures inherited from 1980s punk, while also incorporating faster elements close to hardcore. The lyrics, rooted in a working-class perspective and a provincial imaginary, contribute to the band’s identity and regional anchoring, while Skroetbalg multiplies concerts across European Oi! and punk scenes, often sharing bills with other bands from the same stylistic sphere.
