The Hillbilly Moonshiners

Based in the Netherlands, sextet The Hillbilly Moonshiners has been developing since 2014 a modern, country-tinged bluegrass reinterpretation of rock standards and recent pop hits. The band appropriates songs by Blink-182, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson and AC/DC as well as tracks by Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Drake, transforming them into acoustic numbers with a southern twang, driven by vocal harmonies and a groove reminiscent of Americana. Born on the Dutch bar and festival circuit, The Hillbilly Moonshiners have gradually expanded their activity across much of Europe, touring the UK, Spain, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany and Belgium. They have performed on stages such as Paaspop, Zwarte Cross and Concert at Sea in the Netherlands, as well as at the Sziget and Veszprém festivals in Hungary, and have shared bills with acts like Dropkick Murphys, Kasabian, Kensington and Suzan & Freek. Between rearranged covers of radio classics, a festive bluegrass aesthetic and imagery directly inspired by bayou iconography, The Hillbilly Moonshiners belong to a line of groups that move pop repertoire into the codes of American folk.
