Shooting Gallery
Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s around Finnish guitarist Andy McCoy after the end of Hanoi Rocks, Shooting Gallery operated in a rock vein that mixed hard rock, glam rock and glam punk, with a direct, taut sound shaped by the heritage of American and British club rock. The initial lineup included singer Billy G. Bang, bassist Dave Tregunna and drummer Paul Garisto, with Jo Almeida later appearing as a second guitarist on stage. Shooting Gallery toured the United States in 1990, notably opening for Kiss, before releasing their sole album, Shooting Gallery, in 1992, featuring the single "House of Ecstasy" among others. The record also contains covers of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" and Hanoi Rocks' "Don't You Ever Leave Me", while the track "I Mess Around" appears on the soundtrack of the film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Shooting Gallery's history was short and turbulent, the band splitting up shortly after the album's release. Andy McCoy revived Shooting Gallery in 1994 between Finland and Sweden with Gyp Casino, Dan Lagerstedt and Esa Palosaari for a brief period of live activity, but without any new studio release.
