Beth Rowley

Born in Lima, Peru, in 1981 to British parents and raised in Bristol, Beth Rowley places her music at the crossroads of soul, R&B, pop, gospel and jazz, with touches of blues, folk and Latin American influences. As a teenager she formed the band The Apogee before studying music in Weston-super-Mare and at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. In the early 2000s she developed her repertoire alongside saxophonist Ben Castle and released several EPs—Beth Rowley (2004), Sweet Hours (2006) and Violets (2007)—followed by the album Little Dreamer in 2008. Her career also includes work as a backing vocalist and numerous collaborations, notably with Crowded House, Nostalgia 77 and Duke Special. Rowley has contributed to film and television projects, with “Careless Talk” for The Edge of Love, “You Got Me Wrapped Around Your Little Finger” in An Education and “I Walk Beside You” featured in the series Strike. After the EP Wretched Body (2013) she released Gota Fría in 2018, then Pale Jewel Vol 1 in 2022 and Pale Jewel Vol 2 in 2024.
