Graham Gouldman

Born in Broughton, in the Salford district of England, Graham Gouldman first made his mark on Manchester's 1960s scene as a songwriter before becoming the bassist, singer and a cornerstone of 10cc. His writing crossed British pop, with songs recorded by the Yardbirds, the Hollies and Herman’s Hermits, while he played in several local groups such as The Mockingbirds and later passed through The Mindbenders. Around the turn of the 1970s, Gouldman reunited with Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme around Strawberry Studios after the Hotlegs episode, and in 1972 helped form 10cc. In that context Gouldman developed an approach between pop rock, soft rock and art rock, marked by tightly constructed melodies, a taste for vocal arrangements and often ironic lyrics. After Godley and Creme departed, he continued 10cc with Stewart and concurrently pursued other projects, including Wax with Andrew Gold in the 1980s. His solo discography includes The Graham Gouldman Thing (1968), And Another Thing... (2000), Love and Work (2012), Modesty Forbids (2020) and I Have Notes (2024). Since the 2010s he has also toured in an acoustic format with Heart Full of Songs and joined Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band in 2018.
