Harmonic Brass
Formed in Munich in the early 1990s, Harmonic Brass has developed a practice centered on the brass quintet — two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba — within an aesthetic that links the classical repertoire, baroque transcriptions, contemporary works and arrangements drawn from jazz and popular music. The ensemble builds its career through regular tours in Germany and abroad, performing in concert halls, at festivals and in churches, with an emphasis on precise chamber-music playing and collective sound work. Harmonic Brass’ programmes alternate between original pieces for brass and adaptations of orchestral or choral scores, often designed for thematic contexts such as the liturgical seasons or educational concert cycles. The quintet occasionally collaborates with vocal ensembles, organists or orchestras, and offers masterclasses and workshops for young players. Through its recordings and sustained stage activity, Harmonic Brass is part of the European scene of brass ensembles specialized in presenting a wide repertoire, from early music to recent compositions.
