MerQury

Rooted in the German rock scene, MerQury has been developing since the 1990s a project entirely centered on Queen's repertoire, spanning rock, pop rock and classically styled ballads. The group MerQury relies on a lineup close to Queen's, with a frontman whose vocals reproduce Freddie Mercury's melodic lines and a guitar focused on the harmonies and characteristic tone of Brian May, while adapting arrangements for club, theatre and festival contexts. MerQury's concerts cover the different periods of the British band, from the rock numbers of the 1970s to the more pop-oriented and synth-heavy tracks of the 1980s, incorporating choirs, a cappella passages and more acoustic segments. Active mainly in Germany but also on various European stages, MerQury concentrates on live performance, working on setlist dynamics, audience connection and staging that borrows certain visual codes associated with Queen without seeking strict imitation.
