Bummelkasten
Bummelkasten is the solo project of German musician and vocal performer Bernhard Lütke, based in Berlin. At the crossroads of children’s songs, a cappella pop and sound theatre, Bummelkasten creates pieces constructed entirely from the voice, used for rhythms, melodic motifs and a wide palette of sound effects. The project gained attention in the early 2010s through videos published online, notably the track „Rolltreppenmax“, whose graphic universe accompanies a depiction of everyday life seen from a child’s point of view. In 2015 the album „Irgendwas Bestimmtes“ collected several songs already honed on stage and marked Bummelkasten’s first discographic step within Germany’s music scene for young audiences. In concert, Bummelkasten relies on Bernhard Lütke alone, on a stage performance close to cabaret and on dense vocal arrangements, while the lyrics favour concrete situations, familiar language and visual humour that appeals as much to children as to accompanying adults.
