Rumpistol
Under the name Rumpistol, this Danish composer and producer has been developing electronic music since the early 2000s that moves between melodic IDM, ambient, bass music and neoclassical‑inspired piano pieces. His first self‑titled album was released in 2003 and already revealed a compositional attention to textures, supple rhythms and melodies — an approach Rumpistol has since evolved towards more acoustic forms as well as more immersive live formats. Alongside his solo releases, Rumpistol composes for film, theatre and contemporary dance, has run the Rump Recordings label since 2003 and has also released on labels such as Project Mooncircle, Raske Plader and Sofa Beats. The live stage plays a significant role in his career, with appearances at varied events such as Boom Festival, MUTEK Montréal and Boiler Room in the UK, as well as dates across Europe, the United States, Mexico and Brazil. Rumpistol also works with Kalaha, a project where electronic music meets organic grooves and roots heritage, and collaborates with The Might Tiny, The Many Few and KALEIIDO. His music was also used during the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
