Mc Einar

Formed in Copenhagen in 1987, MC Einar brought together Einar Enemark on rap, Nikolaj Peyk on writing and production, Jan Kabré on scratches, Jesper Willeforte on beatbox and Ole Jensen on guitar and bass. MC Einar emerged as hip‑hop was taking root in Denmark and was among the first groups to rap in Danish, adopting an approach that blended late‑1980s rap aesthetics with a direct, urban and often offbeat tone. Their sound relied on hip‑hop rhythms, DJ interventions, beatbox and arrangements that incorporated played instruments, setting them apart from many projects focused strictly on studio‑recorded rap. The group released Den Nye Stil in 1988 and Arh Dér! in 1989, two albums that accompanied their move from the local scene to a wider audience. The track "Jul det’ cool," released in 1988, remains one of their most recognizable songs. MC Einar disbanded in 1990 after a brief period of activity, later reuniting occasionally for concerts. In the history of Danish rap, MC Einar thus holds a pioneering place tied to the emergence of hip‑hop in the local language.
