kanekoayano

Born in Yokohama, Kaneko Ayano has developed since the early 2010s a songwriting voice situated between Japanese folk, indie rock and alternative pop, first in a very acoustic setting and later with a fuller band sound. Under the name kanekoayano the project took a new form in 2024 centered on Kaneko Ayano, with Hirotoshi Hayashi on guitar and takuyaiizuka on bass, before the drummer SEI NAGAHATA officially joined in January 2026. This evolution continues a path on the Japanese independent scene, where Kaneko Ayano alternated solo performances and electric lineups, with direct vocals and compositions mixing spare folk, rock tension and understated melodies. The first album released as kanekoayano, thread of stone, appeared in April 2025. Since then kanekoayano has also strengthened her presence outside Japan with a third UK tour in May 2025, a first tour of Australia in June and a first Asian tour in October, while appearing the same year at the Fuji Rock Festival on the RED MARQUEE stage.
